About the Artist
Katharine Longfellow is an artist currently living in Vermont. She graduated from the University of Vermont with an art history major and a minor in studio art. While at UVM, she illustrated weekly for The Watertower, a student newspaper published at the University that focuses on opinion and satirical pieces, and has published over 50 pieces. Other published artwork includes pieces in the University magazine, The Vantage Point, as well as the current design for the t-shirt at Brennen’s Dining Hall.
Before studying in Vermont, previous artistic training took place at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she took various drawing and painting related classes for four years. During the time spent at Baum, the school worked with the nearby Liberty Bell Shrine Museum where her paintings were on display at the museum on two separate occasions. Katharine has also attended workshops at the University of Findlay’s annual summer conference for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
In 2014, Katharine illustrated “We Three” by Burlington author, Mary VanBuren Swasey. She is currently illustrating for the UVM Alumni Association and other private commissions. Other interests include children’s illustration, greeting cards and other forms of book illustration as well as figure drawing, landscape and still life studies. Mediums generally include pen & ink, watercolor, pencil, mixed media and acrylic.
